Dear parents it is with a heavy heart I write these lines for poor little Uriah past away day before yesterday and was buried yesterday 10 miles south west of Hennesey we had him in town monday and he got a hold of a lyl can with half lyl and half water and drank some of it how much we do not know but he only 12 hours after he drank it we had a doctor but he throwed up the lining of his stomach in 5 minutes after he drank it yours truly from your breaved children Grace and Henry write soon"

Dear Children It is with sadness I seat myself to write you a few lines in reply to your letter announsing the death of our little Uriah. It is hard to give him up but god giveth and god taketh away, but We hae this comfort, god hath taken little Uriah in all the pureity with which he fave, for our darling was pure as angle, and it is writen(?) of such as he, is the kingdom of heaven: We must bow the Decree of the lord, even severe as it seems, it may be far the best, for the lord doeth all things well even(?) to taking a way our loved ones. my Children you must bear up under your afflictions, and trust to the lord to giveyou strength, to bear with you trouble, of course you have our heart-felt simpathy, in your breavement. We got your other letter on Sunday, I was going to answer it that night but Jhon (John?) and Hattie came over and I didn't get it done, I thought I's write last night but put it off, I Don't know When I can mail this, this is Tuesday night, We are all Well except bad colds pap(?) is not done sowing Wheat. We had 179 gushes When We threshed, the children are going to school now they are learning fast, I did not get your card from medicine lodge, and was so glad to get your letter from Kiowa. The last letter we got from Ridgeway brought the news that Will (?) Jinchs(?) was dead he died the 15 of September did you have Uriah's picture taken. I can't get him off my mind to night; I will quit and go to bed as it is geting late.

Oh! how my heart aches for you in your trouble, good bye write soon.
