Christened (geref) on 26-08-1731 in Rotterdam (code: JJG), buried on 07-06-1787 in Paramaribo. The Gouvernor of Suriname was informed of the death of Pieter by the first assistent of the Tax-collectors Office. Buried for HFL 59,15 in the "Nieuwe Oranje Tuin". As Counsellor Pieter had an additional job as Head of the Tax-collectors Office (Ontvanger Modique Lasten) 1774-1787. He further functioned as a bookkeeper ("administrateur") for the plantations "Jagtlust", "De Nieuwe Grond", "Ornamibo", "Manheim", "Elk t zijn", "Bronswijk" and "Meerzorg". According his testament Pieter owned in Paramaribo houses in the Keijserstraat (no. 142, 143 and 197) and in the Wijdestraat (no. 212, 239 and 347). After his dead two painted views of Rotterdam were found in the living and 10 ties in his wardrobe. Went in 1778 or 1789 to Amsterdam (The Netherlands) with his wife Agneta and at least with the children Jan Andries (and fiancee Johanna Geertruy Beaules), Pieter Louis and Nicolaas Martinus. The last two mentioned departed on 28-03-1778 from Paramaribo, under supervision of their future sister-in-law Johanna Geertruy Beaules, who was accompenied by her slave Diana, a free negro Dorothea Seffart and Johann Hermann Hambroek. Pieter and his wife Agneta witnessed the christening of Jan Andries daughter Louisa Geertruyda on 21-02-1779 in the Westerkerk in Amsterdam. Returned in 1779 back in Paramaribo with his wife. Son of Joannes (Jan) BERKHOFF (see also 4) and Grietje KRIS.
