Walter Murrer obituary, provenance unknown:
"PETERS TOWNSHIP MAN LIVING ALONE DIES IN HIS HOME
-
William Murrer, aged 71 years, a well known resident of Peters township, was found dead in bed Saturday afternoon at his home near McMurray. He lived alone and a son, Albert Murrer of Mt. Lebanon, had come to the home with the weekly supply of groceries, and receiving no reply to his knock pushed open the door and found his father lying across the bed dead. He had recently pruchased the old Ray homestead and had spent all day Thursday working about the place and was last seen then, death having evidently occurred from a heart attack some time during the night.
The deceased lived alone and had just completed preparation for the winter months. He had prepared a quantity of jelly, preserves and other delicacies for his winter consumption.
He is survived by three children, Mrs. Franklin Klein of Pittsburgh; Walter of McKeesport, and Albert of Mt. Lebanon. The body was taken to the T. B. Moreland funeral home in Pittsburgh, where funeral services were held at 2:30 p. m. today."
