Cora Dena Stubbe, 93, of Ackley, died Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at Presbyterian Village in Ackley. Funeral services were June 30 at West Friesland Presbyterian Church in Ackley, with burial in West Friesland Cemetery.
Cora was born to Henry and Nancy (Janssen) Stubbe and graduated from the Austinville Public School. She was baptized at the Ackley Christian Reformed Church. Cora was a charter member of the Women Organization, taught Sunday School and Bible School and did a lot of volunteer work.
She worked in various homes that needed care and help. She moved to Ackley with her parents in 1946 and worked in a grocery store as a clerk. Cora stayed with her parents who died in 1968 and 1970. She then was with the Presbyterian Village for 15 years in the Environmental Services, retiring in 1986. She always enjoyed her church, her family, and loved to garden, go fishing and go on tours. Her family was very close, as they got together every two weeks for dinner and celebrated birthdays and loved to be together.
Cora is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Tarana Geerdes and Elizabeth Penning; a brother, LaVern Stubbe; and one nephew. She is survived by two brothers, Ted (Frances) Stubbe and Christie Stubbe all of Aplington; a brother-in-law, Albert Penning of Aplington; and a host of nieces and nephews."
