"Elda Rosine Groen August 15, 1929 - July 2, 2022
Elda Groen, age 92 of Algona, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Society in Forest City, Iowa. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona. Services will be livestreamed on Trinity Lutheran Church's YouTube page. Burial will take place in the East Lawn Cemetery in Algona. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the church.
Elda Rosine Wolter was born on Aug. 15, 1929, on the family farm near Lotts Creek in Whittemore, the daughter of Ernest and Rosine (Tietz) Wolter. She grew up on the family farm and attended the Immanuel Lutheran School. Elda was united in marriage to John Groen at the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Lotts Creek on February 4, 1951. To this union was born three children, Marlene, Susan and Larry. The family made their home in Algona where Elda worked 32 years at the Good Samaritan Society Care Center in the dietary department.
Elda was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She and John enjoyed traveling and country western music, which took the couple to Branson, Missouri quite frequently.
Left to cherish Elda's memory are her children, Susan (Ted) Hall of Forest City and Larry (Linda) Groen of Algona; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and a sister, Elma Wehrspann of Emmetsburg. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; daughter, Marlene; granddaughter's spouse, Jon Newman; great grandson, Andrew Larson; a brother, Harold Wolter; and a sister, Regina Hagg.
Elda's family wishes to thank the staff of the Forest City Good Samaritan Center and the St. Croix Hospice for their kindness and support shown to Elda and family. The Lentz Funeral Home in Algona is serving the family. Condolences may be left aw www.lentzfuneralhome.com "
