Mrs. Harmka Tapper, nee Stoppelmoor was born August 31, 1882 in Germany. She was a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Walter Stoppelmoor. At the age of three weeks, she came to this country with her parents. She lived with her parentsuntil she was united in holy matrimony to Joe Tapper on December 30, 1902 at Wellsburg, Iowa. To this union twelve children were born. She was a communicant of the Ramsey Reformed Church and an honorary member of the Guild for ChirstianService.
She was hospitalized on January 1, 1962, at the Britt Memorial Hospital for ten days. Then she went to the home of her daughter, Mrs Harm Huisinga, remaining there until her death. She passed away suddenly from a heart attack on Monday,January 22, 1962 She attained the age of 79 years, 4 months and 22 days.
She was preceded in death by a son, Johann, who was killed while in active duty on the Italian Battlefront, June 16, 1944; her hisband on April 8, 1957.
She leaves to mourn the following children: Hilda, Mrs. Dick Meyer, Algona; Walter, Buffalo Center; John Vinton; Mary, Mrs Norris Rousseau, Elmore, Minn; Lydia, Mrs Everett Rippentrop, Swea City; Herman, Marathon, Wis.; Minnie, Mrs. JimMcQuiston, Cedar Rapids; Esther, Mrs Harm Huisinga, Titonka; Henrietta, Mrs James Reed, Cedar Rapids; Lillie Mrs Raymond Greene, Cedar Rapids; and Donald, Buffalo Center. There are 35 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Also thefollowing brothers and sisters: Hanna, Mrs. Jake Tapper, Webster City; Minnie, Mrs Earl Bates, Webster City; Marie, Mrs Pruisman, Blairsburg; Ann, Mrs Chris Kruger, Ackley; Ruth, Mrs Dick Meyer, Washington (State); Tim Webster City; andOtto, South Dakota. Besides these there are many other relatives and friends." <>
