James Gregg McAliley was a confederate soldier through the war and a lawyer afterwards. His sole surviving and probably only child was a daughter Mary McAliley who married and had six or more children, at least five of them daughters and at least four of these who married with children.
This line is the sole lineage descending from State Sen. Samuel McAliley of Chester District, a state senator before and during the War between the States.
