Peter left Sampson County for Prince Georges District South Carolina before 1790, and probably with his brother John in 1779, residing in the border area which became Horry County. He remained there the rest of his life,dying a few years after 1840. It is the opinion of Richard Wright that since the land which he participated in selling on Boggy Hill Branch in Columbus County in 1801 had been the property of the Soles (also spelled Soals and Souls) family ,Peter`s first wife must have been a daughter of Joseph Soles whose land it was.

Peter`s land transactions show that HIS lands lay on the Northeast side of the Pee Dee River on Michael Swamp. The census of 1790 is best understood if he had a younger brother living with him, presumably Francis. By the time of his first wife`s death in about 1811, then, Peter had two sons and two daughters Probably as follows: 1: Daniel (b. ca. 1790SC called Jr. in Horry co in 1820); Andrew (b. ca. 1791SC); 1f: a daughter (b. ca. 1794, died before 1810?); 2f: a daughter (b. ca. 1797 died before 1810?).
A year or so after his first wife`s death, Peter married a Virginia woman born in about 1786. Although Jacob and Harriet might be assigned to his first wife I believe they had seven children 3: Jacob (b.ca. 1807SC); 3f: Harriet (b. ca. 1809SC married John Rhodes); 4: William (b. ca. 1811SC) 4f: Sarah (b. ca. 1814); 5: Isaac (b. ca. 1816SC); 5f: Elizabeth ( b. ca. 1819); and 6: a son (b. ca. 1824 who probably died in childhood.
We know the names of these younger children from the testamentary deed in which some of Peter`s land land was sold to William Fowler by Jacob, Harriet, Isaac, Elizabeth, and Sarah. Peter was born between 1760 and 1764 and he died after Dec. 1840 when he signed a deed. He and his wife have gone to live with a married daughter ( perhaps the wife of Alfred Rhodes to whom he sold his land) since there is no appropriate widow in the census of 1840.
The above by Richard G. Fowler from his book ( A History Of The Fowler Family of Southeastern North Carolina).
It would seem by the 1800 Waccamaw Co. (Horry Co.) census that Peter and his brother Richard, were the only two Fowler`s in the Waccamaw District, at that time they are listed on page # 778 of that census. Peter`s household is listed as; 1 male under 10 years; 1 male between 10 to 16 years of age;
1 male (himself) between 26 to 45 years of age (b. ca. 1755 to 1774); 2 females under 10 years of age; 1 female 10 to 16 years of age; 1 female 26 to 45 years of age (wife); no slaves listed. (WSH) (William S. Hardee)
