Lennox, previous creations: Isabel, the daughter of Duncan, 8th Earl of Lennox, accordingly became Countess of Lennox, in her own right, but her husaband Murdoch, 2nd Duke of Albany and first cousin of James I, was involved in a plot against the King and executed along with his father-in-law, the 8th Earl of Lennox. [Burke's Peerage, p. 2402]

EARLDOM OF LENNOX [SCT] (IX)
ISABEL, suo jure COUNTESS OF LENNOX [SCT], 1st daughter and heir, upon whom and the heirs of her body the earldom had been settled by the regrant of 1392. She married,(settlement 17 February 1391/2) Murdoch (STEWART), DUKE OF ALBANY [SCT], who was beheaded 1425. So long as James I lived she appears to have been a prisoner; but was afterwards allowed to reside at her castle of Inchmurrin in Loch Lomond. She was living there in 1451, and apparently dealing with Lennox property, in her grant (18 May) as Duchess of Albany and Countess of Lennox to the Friars Preachers of Glasgow. She was living in 1456, when she is called antiqua comilissa de Lennox. She died probably in 1458, possibly early in May, s.p.s. [Complete Peerage VII:593, XIV:432, (transcribed by Dave Utzinger)]
------------------------
He [Murdoch Stewart] m. 2ndly (settlement 17 February 1391/2), Isabel, suo jure COUNTESS OF LENNOX, 1st daughter and heir of line of Duncan, EARL OF LENNOX [SCT], by Helen, daughter of Gillespic CAMPBELL. She was heir presumptive to the Earldom of Lennox [SCT], her father having resigned it (to Robert II), and obtained a new grant thereof to himself and the heirs male of his body with remainder to her, her husband and the heirs of their bodies. The Duke died when beheaded 24 May 1425, and was buried in the Blackfriars Church, Stirling, when, having been attainted, all his honours were forfeited. His widow, suo jure COUNTESS OF LENNOX [SCT], died s.p.s., at Inchmurrin Castle, Loch Lomond, probably in 1458. [Complete Peerage I:79, XIV:15, transcribed by Dave Utzinger)]
Note: Although CP doesn't indicate any surviving issue of Murdoch & Isabel, BP does say that a son James escaped the extinction/executions of the family in 1425 and ended up in Ireland, and he had issue.
