ISABEL, suo jure COUNTESS OF LENNOX [SCT], 1st daughter and heir, uponwhom and the heirs of her body the earldom had been settled by theregrant of 1392. She married,(settlement 17 February 1391/2) Murdoch(STEWART), DUKE OF ALBANY [SCT], who was beheaded 1425. So long as JamesI lived she appears to have been a prisoner; but was afterwards allowedto reside at her castle of Inchmurrin in Loch Lomond. She was livingthere in 1451, and apparently dealing with Lennox property, in her grant(18 May) as Duchess of Albany and Countess of Lennox to the FriarsPreachers of Glasgow. She was living in 1456, when she is called antiquacomilissa de Lennox. She died probably in 1458, possibly early in May,s.p.s. [Complete Peerage VII:593, XIV:432, (transcribed by DaveUtzinger)]
