Funeral services for Gerrit Sip, 49, Williston, N.D. found dead yesterday in his automobile at the county fairgrounds in Bemidji, will be held Sept 3 at the McKee Funeral Home in Bemidji. Rev. Berglund of the Baptist church will officiate and burial will be made in Greenwood cemetery in Bemidji.
The deceased had come to Bemidji several days ago with his wife and their 12-year-old son. The couple had just concluded negotiations on the afternoon of Aug 31 to buy the Bemidji hotel business from Sam Infelise.
According to the coroner, Stip left the hotel, after the sale had been completed, in a despondent mood. The body was found with a bullet hole in the right temple and a rifle was found in the hands of the deceased.
It was learned that Mrs. Stip will retain ownership of the hotel business and will continue living here to operate it. (Bemidji Pioneer, Sept 1, 1949)
