Roeder, son of Jonathan and Elizabeth Roeder, was born in DeKalb County, Missouri, June 19, 1876 and passed away near Roscoe, Missouri, April 3, 1944 at the age of 67 years, nine months and 14 days. He came to St.Clair County with his parents when about 7 years of age and the remainder of his life was spent in St.Clair County, Missouri. He was united in marriage with Ivy Irene Holcombe on October 11, 1903 and to this union nine children were born, all of whom survive him. They are Florence Maud Shields of Lee Summit, Missouri, Arthur Henry Roeder of Oakland, California, Mary Winifred Manley of Plymouth, Illinois, Fred Dee Roeder of Henderson, Iowa, Charles Lewis Roeder and Walter Pitt Roeder who are in service overseas, Ruth Elizabeth Roberts and Harry Jonathan Roeder of Roscoe, Missouri, Mildred Margaret Cooper of Collins, Missouri. He is also survived by his wife, one sister, Mrs Mary Burris of Huntington Park, California, three brothers; Levi D. Roeder of Phoenix, Arizona, Keo W. Roeder of Craddock, Missouri, Grover C. of Osceola, Missouri; 11 grandchildren and a host of other relatives. He professed faith in Christ and united with the Methodist Church of Vista,Missouri in 1903. He was honest, truthful and industrious; a good neighbor to all, and his passing will be mourned by a host of friends. Funeral services were held at the Roscoe Christian Church Wednesday afternoon with Chas. E Higgins officiating. Burial was in the Osceola Cemetery under the direction of the Osceola Funeral Home.
