Biography
George Trundy (aka Trundey, Trundee) was born in 1670 in the Netherlands. He emigrated to New England. He was in New Castle, New Hampshire in 1696, his occupation "caulker," caulking ships (Libby, Genealogical Dictionary of Maine and New Hampshire, Volume 5)." Per Helene's Genes_NOTES (source/link below) on the "Trundy" family, George was made a freeman in 1692/3. And in addition to "caulking ships" in Portsmouth, New Hampshire in 1996, he was on the tax rolls in 1698 in New Castle, New Hampshire. George also came and went from Boston at various times throughout his life.
George married first Elizabeth Trefethen before 1692, 1692 being birth year of their first child. They had at least four children including: 1) Elizabeth b. ca. 1692 at Kittery, Province of Maine, m. Joshua Remington of Berwick on June 13, 1712; 2) Sarah who was in court in 1702 for stealing food from Jeremiah Walford; 3) John b. abt. 1698, d. October 1755, aged 57, Falmouth, Province of Maine; and Susannah m. Joseph Candis in Boston on May 17, 1714. Wife Elizabeth passed away and was buried in Boston on May 20, 1720).
George married 2nd Sarah Watts (from Newburyport) in Boston on February 22, 1721. They were married by Mr. Samuel Checkley. Marriage intention filed in Boston on February 7, 1721 reads surname "Trundy," where the actual marriage registry reads "Trundey."
Research Notes:
Three Trundy children, namely Elizabeth, Sarah, and John Trundy, are identified in their grandfather's (Foster Trefethan's) Will dated March 30, 1751 and proved on August 28, 1754. They were to receive their inheritance of five Shillings "when they arrive at the ages of twenty and one." Foster Trefethen's (Sr.) wife was Martha Paine as noted in theGenealogical Dictionary of Maine and New Hampshire(Libby, p. 690).
