Henry paid 30 pounds for over 150 acres of land along the Indian Creek in Franconia. The homestead was situated about 2 1/2 miles west of present-day Souderton (Northeast extension of the Pa. Turnpike now goes right though it!) The site includes the Mennonite burying ground which later became the site of the Franconia Mennonite Meetinghouse. The land had been part of the 1,000 acres sold to Steele by William Penn's original commissioners of property. On June 19, 1745, he conveyed his plantation to his son henry, Jr. for the price of 200 pounds. henry Sr. disappears from records after this, and it is believed he continued to live on the farm with his son, henry, Jr.
The barn attached to Henry's Franconia homestead, known in Pennsylvania German as a boddenscheirer, was built in 1755. On one point in the early 1900's it was thought to be the oldest barn standing in Montgomery County, but it was torn down soon thereafter.
Henry was one of the original worshipers at the Franconia Mennonite meetinghouse, where he is also buried.
Legends regarding the origin of this family exist, which, while not implausible, unfortunately cannot be substantiated at this farm removed time.

Dear Donna Basinger,
My wife is a descendant from the Rosenberger-family coming from Birmensdorf. So i looked for datas for her ancestors and i found your very impressive ancersty chart.
When I looked for datas in the church records I found a little difference.
Adelheid Muller born 1655 in Uitikon a village near Birmensdorf was married with Rudolff Rosenberger born 1653 in Birmensdorf and not with Jakob Pletcher Rosenberger born in Schaffhausen.
Rudolf is son of Felix 1611, son of Heinrich 1586 son of Cunrad 1555.
Cunrad ist the brother of Waeltin and Waeltin ist the 10x greatgrandfather of my wife.
Sincerely Yours
Fridolin Bannwart Zollikerberg Switzerland

....WE MUST START IN BOHEMIA, IN AUSTRIA. A FAMILY OF ROSENBERG LIVED NORTHWEST OF VIENNA ON A LARGE ESTATE. HISTORY MIXES THEM UP WITH THE HOHENSOLLERN FAMILY AND THE RELIGIOUS WARS OF AUSTRIA. BETWEEN 1611 AND 1660 THEY WERE DRIVEN BY RELIGIOUS PERSECUTION OUT TO SWITZERLAND, HOLLAND, ENGLAND, AND LASTLY TOOK SHIP WITH WILLIAM PENN. THERE WERE ALLEGEDLY A FATHER AND NINE SONS.
THEY WERE SUPPOSEDLY OF A PRINCELY FAMILY. THERE WAS A VON TO THE NAME; BUT THE ORIGINAL (REFUGEE) VON ROSENBERG HAD TO DROP IT BECAUSE NO VON COULD TRAVEL WITHOUT A PERMIT FROM HIS KING.
THERE IS AN ESTATE CONSISTING OF "99 VILLAGES, 75,000 ACRES AND 30,000 PEOPLE WHICH WINTERGAN IS THE CENTRAL VILLAGE." THIS ESTATE IS NOW IN THE POSSESSION OF THE SCHWARTZENBERGS SINCE A.D. 1660, HAVING BEEN FORMERLY IN THE POSSESSION OF THE ROSENBERGER FAMILY. THE DOMAIN REVERTED TO THE CROWN ON THE DEATH OF THE LAST ONE OF THE ROSENBERGErS, A.D.1611, AND WAS PRESENTED BY THE CROWN TO JOHN ADOLPH SCHWARTZENBERG AT THE TIME OF A.D. 1660. THOUGH THE ROSENBERGERS WHO CAME TO AMERICA WERE OBVIOUSLY MENNONITE, SOME BRANCHES OF THE ROSENBERGS FROM AUSTRIA AND PRUSSIA WERE KNOWN TO BE JEWS.
