Wisner was born April 1, 1900, in Waukegan, Ill. He moved to California in 1910 when his family settled in Lodi. He worked with his father there on the home farm. In 1930 he moved to West Point, Calif. where he and his wife Bea were converted under the ministry of the Rev. Joe Kirk and Mother Kunkle, brother-in-law and mother of our general superintendent. Soon afterward he entered the Training School For Christian Workers, now Azusa Pacific College and graduated in 1935.
He pastored a county church in Rail Road Flat, Calif., for two years then moved to El Monte where he was dean of boys at the Holiness Evangelistic Institute for four years. In 1941 he became the pastor of our El Monte Bethel E.M.C. and two years later moved to East Los Angeles where he started and built the Fetterly Avenue Church. He also pastored in Roseburg Ore. In 1948 he returned to Mt. Shasta and pastored the church here for nearly twenty years. He was also employed by the McCloud River Lumber Company until retiring in 1965. He was also a member of the Wesleyan Ministerial Association.
He married Beatrice Hawver in 1921, and she survives him. He is also survived by two daughters, Millie Hand and Ruth Gilliam of Mt. Shatsa; and a son, Lawrence of Carmichael; seven grandchildren (one is a minister of the Church of the Nazarene, two are attending Vennard College and one graduated from Azusa Pacific College); and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Mount Shasta Memorial Prak with Rev. Don Bishop officiating. Interment was in Mount Shasta Memorial Park. His memorial fund is going to help build the new Mt. Shasta E.M.C.
