HIGLEY, Capt, John, the American progenitor of all bearing the name in this country, came from Frimley, Surrey, England, to Windsor, in 1666, when about 17 years of age. His father was Jonathan Higley, who died in 1664, and his mother, before her marriage, was Katherine Brewster, daughter of the Rev. John Brewster, who died in Eng. 23 Aug., 1657. They were of the lineage of the ancient Brewster family of Mayflower fame.
