On Thursday afternoon, Mr. Silas Anderson breathed his last after an illness of several weeks. He was in his 78th year and until his fatal illness came he was unusually healthy and active for one his age. Deceased was born in this county and had spent his long life here. A poor boy on the start, he amassed a snug fortune and until he divided his farms between his children he had between 1,200 and 1,500 acres of blue grass land. Besides this he owned stocks and bonds of much value. Mr. Anderson is suvived by his wife, who was a sister of Col. Huff Dudderar, and who is 81 years old, and four children, Mesdames Walter Warren and Frank Lawrence and Messrs. John B. and Henry Anderson. For 55 years Mr. and Mrs. Anderson lived happily together and now that the husband has been called hence, much sympathy is felt for the partner of over half a century who survives. The children also come in for a full share of condolence in the loss of a kind and good father. Long ago Mr. Anderson made peace with his God and he was ready and willing to join the hosts above. He was a great friend and admirer of Eld. J. G. Livingston and that gentleman preached his funeral sermon at Goshen at 3:30 Friday afternoon, after which the remains were laid to rest to await the resurrection morn.
