William and Sister Sarah (Michal) Barnhart, was born September 11, 1883, Near Centropolis, Kansas. He departed this life April 7, 1962, in the Anderson County Hospital, Garnett, Kansas, at the age of 78 years, 6 months, and 27 days. He united with the Old German Baptist church in early life, in which faith he departed this life. Some of his early life was spent in Indiana. Returning to Isabel, Kansas, he was united in marrage to sister Lydia (Wagoner) Killingsworth, October 19, 1913. To this union were born 4 children: Sister Vernia Riffey, Ivan, Alva, and Bro. Alvin. In 1919 they moved to Sawyer, Kansas. His Companion proceded him in death, January 30, 1960. Also surviving are 2 step-daughters: Sister Mabel Kessler and Sister Hazel Kinzie ; 1 step-son, Bro. Lloyd Killingsworth; (infant step-grandson and 1 granddaughter, Wanda Riffey, preceded him in death);11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren; 19 step-great-grandchildren; 4 brothers; 4 sisters; besides a host of other relatives and friends. He bore the years of suffering affliction with Christian patience. He will be greatly missed in the church, the family, and the community. A funeral service was held at 2:30 P.M., April 8, at the Farris funeral home, Garnett, Kansas, by Brethren William P. Heck and Clyde Hirt. On April 9,another funeral service was held at 2:00 P.M., at Sand Creek Church, Sawyer, Kansas, by the undersigned, assisted by the home brethren. Interment was made in the Cemetery adjoining the Church grounds to await the resurrection. Alvah Turner.
