His parents were Wilbert Thomas Francis and Myrtle May Evans of which preceded him in death. Moss was first a member of Pleasant Valley Christian Church near Rainey, Missouri, then moved his membership to the Collins Christian Church. He was united in marriage to Roberta Fern Killingsworth on June 2, 1931 at Roscoe, Missouri. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary on June 2, 1981. To this union were born three children; Juanita Helen Gumm, Kathryn Lee Francis and Calvin Leroy Francis. He was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta Fern Francis on February 4, 1985; two children, Kathryn Lee Francis on November 6, 1933 and Calvin Leroy Francis on April 20, 1961; a son-in-law, Harold Leroy Gumm on October 19, 1990; one brother, Harry Calvin Francis on November 29, 1970 of Lake City, Minnesota, and one Grand-daughter, Debra Kaye Gumm on June 28,1965. Moss is survived by his daughter, Juanita Helen Gumm of Bolivar, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Vicki Lee Barnett of Republic,Missouri, Tonya Sue Hicks of Bolivar, Missouri, Mark Francis Gumm and Gregory Lynn Gumm both of Stockton, Missouri; Dena Lynn Anderson, Wendy Lee McLafferty, and Susan Lori Richardson, all of Minnesota; a daughter-in-law, Marcia Louise Dallman of Lake City, Minnesota; two brothers, Alva Leroy (Pete) Francis of ElDorado Springs, Missouri and Raymond Russell Francis of Collins, Missouri, and eight grand-children. Moss was a farmer in the Rainey community West of Collins, Missouri for most of his life. He will be missed by his family, relatives and a host of friends. His passing is a keen loss for all of us. We especially commend the immediate family to love and grace of our Heavenly Father who is about to sustain us in all losses and is able to bring light out of darkness and joy out of sadness. Funeral services for Melvin Moss Francis will be held on Thursday afternoon, March 30, at 2 P.M. at the Hackleman Chapel, Interment will be in the Freeman-Holsapple Cemetery, at Collins, Missouri, under the direction of the Hackleman and Sons Funeral Home, ElDorado Springs, Missouri. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday afternoon from 1-2 P.M. Minister- Rev. Gary Strickard, of Collins, Missouri. Music by; Doug Hicks, Janine Sitton, Jodi McCrickard. Pallbearers- Dick H. Elliott,Tom Norris, Herman Jones, Joe Norval, George Ray Francis and Vernie Ketchum.
