Mentioned in 'A Copy of the Poll for Knights of the Shire' for the County of Hertford, Taken at the Town of Hertford, May 2 1734, Roger Tuack Esq, High Sheriff. 1734 Beneficiary and co-executor of the will of John Shepherd, his uncle ".....In the first place I give and devise unto William Shepherd my nephew of Pirton aforesaid all that half acre of arable land with the appurtenances situate lying and being in the parish and fields of Pirton aforsaid in a shott called or known by the name of Long Boell there and also all that half acre by estimation of arrable land lying in the fields of Pirton aforsaid in Duckriddy Shott there and also all that half acre more of arrable land lying in the fields of Pirton aforsaid in low furlong shotts there and also all that close of arrable land and pasture ground lying and being in Northend corner in Pirton aforsaid and containing two acres more or less which said lands and premises and holden of the manor of Pirton Dodding[sells] by Coppy of Court Roll to hold the said arrable land close and premises with the appurtenances unto the said William Shepherd and to his heirs and assigns forever..."
