William (1847) and George (1848) spent some time in Australia. They followed their uncle, Dr William George Getty, to the Bathurst district of NSW in the 1860s. They opened a pharmacy in Bathurst but this was an unsuccessful enterprise and they then returned to Liverpool.
In the 1881 census, his occupation is clerk. In the 1891 census he is described as an unmarried Druggist.
George Getty was still on the Register of Chemists and Druggists of NSW in 1882, even though he had returned to Liverpool. He is recorded as working in Bathurst as an assistant to a chemist and druggist.
