Notes about Nicolai Andries van Dijck

Nicolaes Andries van Dijk was weinig gelukkiger dan zijn halfbroer Frans van Iersel (zoon van Peter van Gils). Hij verkwistte in korte tijd de aanzienelijke nalatenschap van zijn vader. Hij maakte zoveel schulden dat hij 'uitverkocht' werd; zeg maar failliet ging. Nadat al zijn roerende goederen waren verkocht, moest ook zijn erfgoed nog worden aangewend om zijn schuldeisers tevreden te stellen. Hij mocht slecht 100 gulden houden.
Nicolaes was bode, met name op Keulen en Aken, en verkeerde voortdurend in nijpende geldnood, waaruit hij dan vaak door zijn zwager, Wouter Colen,kapelaan op het Kasteel van Drunen en rentmeester van de Graven van d'Oultremont werd gered.
