Hermanus Hendricus Morison werd geboren in Amsterdam op 09-08-1902 en stierf in Haarlem op 28-05-1974. Hij doorliep een carrière in het Binnenlands Bestuur. Van december 1924 tot maart 1931 was hij geplaatst in de residentie Menado (standplaats Gorontalo) als administratief ambtenaar, aspirant-controleur, controleur en controleur eerste klas. Ging met Europees verlof van maart 1931 tot september 1931, was van november 1931 tot augustus 1933 geplaatst in Sumatra (standplaats Rantauparapat) als controleur eerste klas. Van augustus 1933 tot februari 1935 verbleef hij met studieverlof in Nederland, waar hij op 17 oktober 1935 het doctoraalexamen Indologie behaalde. Van november 1935 tot februari 1938 was Morison geplaatst in residentie Sumatra's Westkust (district Kerintji) als controleur en controleur eerste klas. Van maart 1938 tot maart 1942 geplaatst in de residentie Batavia, als secretaris van de resident en assistent resident. Promoveerde op 19 januari 1940 aan de Rechtshogeschool in Batavia (doctor in de rechtsgeleerdheid) met een proefschrift getiteld "De Mendapo Hiang in het district Korintji; adatrechtelijke verhandelingen". Van maart 1942 tot oktober 1945 werd hij geïnterneerd door de Japanners. Daarna was hij tot juni 1946 geplaatst in Medan; medewerker op het kantoor van de Rapwi (Recovering Allied Prisoners of War and Internees) en hoofd Rapwi / KDP (Kantoor Displaced Persons). Van juni 1946 tot maart 1949 geplaatst in Manado (standplaats Tomohon) als commanding officer NICA (Netherlands INDI
