    In Duitsland (in tegenstelling tot Nederland) waren er vaak al scherprechters in kleine stadjes, maar zij waren daarnaast vaak nog pachter van een "Abdeckerei" De afdekker (=is ook wel vilder in Nederland) was wel in kleinere gemeenschappen aanwezig. In sommige streken werd hij wel Wrasemeister, Wasemeister of Halbmeister genoemd. Zij werden in Duitsland ook wel 'Titular-Scharfrichter' genoemd. In mijn artikel over Neheim wordt in 1658 Georg (Jürgen) Gercken ook Wrasemeister (vilder) genoemd, wat hij ook in werkelijkheid was. In de latijnse kerkboeken verschijnt hij echter als carnifex (=scherprechter). Het beroep van Wrasemeister was in Duitsland een typische vertegenwoordiger van een als 'unehrlich' gekwalificeerd beroep. De wrasemeisters stonden meestal in dienst van de scherprechter en assisteerden bij de terechtstellingen. Vele scherprechtersgeslachten vonden hun oorsprong als Halbmeister of Wrasemeister.
