Een woongemeenschap in het Gooi:

Begin 1943 had ene Jan Hemelrijk een probleem. Bergen (Nh) zou op korte termijn geëvacueerd worden vanwege de bouw van de Atlantikwall (Atlantische muur). Zijn onderduikers moesten elders worden ondergebracht.

Noor van Donselaar, een oude schoolvriendin van Jans zuster Dineke die inmiddels in Huizen woonde, had een gouden tip. Ze kende een groot afgelegen huis in een woest duingebied op de grens van Huizen en Naarden. In de tuin van Het Hooge Nest'' , zoals het huis heette, had ze bij een vriendin thee gedronken. Haar familie had het huis voor de zomer gehuurd van twee dames uit Amsterdam. Jan Hemelrijk en Eberhard Rebling bezochten op hun paasbest gekleed de dames Jansen in hun riante huis aan de chique Apollolaan. Ze wilden 'Het Hooge Nest' tot het einde van de oorlog huren. Twee dagen later, op 30 januari 1943, tekende Rebling onder zijn schuilnaam Jean Jacques Bos het huurcontract. De huur werd vastgesteld op 112,50 gulden per maand. Rebling verplichtte zich alles wat in de loop der tijd beschadigd of vernield werd na de oorlog te vergoeden.

Na het tekenen van het contract moest hij de huur van het huis officieel bij de burgemeester van Naarden (Nh) melden. Anders zou het huis mogelijk in beslag worden genomen. Het werd een memorabel bezoek aan het gemeentehuis. De burgemeester, een fervente Nazi die in zijn spreekkamer portretten van Hitler en Mussert had hangen, verwelkomde Rebling met ‘Heil Hitler’. Voor de eerste en laatste keer in zijn leven strekte Rebling de rechterarm terwijl ook hij de woorden ‘Heil Hitler’ uitsprak. Het effect was naar wens. De ‘familie Bos’ (Eberhard Rebling, Lien Brilleslijper en hun dochter Kathinka) werd als tijdelijke bewoner van de gemeente ingeschreven.
De onderduikers verhuisden per trein naar het Gooi. Eerst namen ze het stoomtreintje Bello van Bergen naar Alkmaar. Vandaar moesten ze via het gevaarlijke Centraal Station in Amsterdam. Daar namen ze de trein naar Bussum. Gelukkig viel het gezelschap, dat voornamelijk uit joden bestond, niet te veel op. De grote evacuatie had voor hen een positief neveneffect. Door de evacuatie vanuit het kustgebied waren veel mensen onderweg.

Jan Hemelrijk en Noor van Donselaar op de plek des onheils;

Inmiddels was Jan Hemelrijk in het Gooi gearriveerd. Hij had het nieuws van de ontruiming gehoord.’s-Ochtends was hij al naar station Bussum afgereisd. Daar kwam Noor van Donselaar hem op het perron tegen. Hij vroeg haar om zo snel mogelijk met het nieuws naar Bob Brandes te gaan. Ook wilde hij de kinderen bij de dokter weghalen. Of ze mogelijk naar de familie Van Donselaar gebracht konden worden?

Noor informeerde haar moeder die onmiddellijk naar Weesp vertrok om Bob Brandes te waarschuwen niet naar huis terug te gaan. Rond vijf uur kwam Jan bij de Van Donselaars aan in de Naarderstraat. Hij vroeg of iemand bij 'Het Hoge Nest' wilde gaan kijken. Hij wilde weten of iedereen al was vertrokken. Noor ging op pad en bedacht onderweg een goede reden om aan te bellen. Ze zou vertellen dat ze een weggelopen poesje zocht. Met deze smoes belde ze aan bij 'Het Hooge Nest.
De deur ging open en werd vrijwel meteen weer dichtgesmeten. Omdat ze niet onverrichter zake naar huis terug wilde gaan, ondernam ze een tweede poging. De man die eerst de deur had dichtgesmeten, nodigde haar nu vriendelijk uit om binnen te komen. Ze wimpelde de uitnodiging af, ging met de man een gesprekje aan en had ondertussen genoeg tijd om naar binnen te kijken. Twee mannen waren bezig een tapijt op te rollen, een andere man trok de traploper van de trap. Noor dacht dat het huis leeggehaald werd. Maar men was op dat moment nog op zoek naar onderduikers.
