Kees Koning nam in 2002 na bijna 34 jaar, afscheid van de gemeente Edam-Volendam.

Van deze 34 jaar is hij 27 jaar chef van de afdeling Burgerzaken geweest en heeft hij ontelbaar veel huwelijken gesloten als ambtenaar van de burgerlijke stand. Voordat hij bij de gemeente kwam werken heeft hij bij de Belastingdienst gewerkt. Kees ontving een Koninklijke Onderscheiding voor langdurige vrijwilligersactiviteiten.

Van 1968 tot 1993 was hij voorzitter van het Club- en Buurthuis-werk Volendam en van medio 1995 tot nu toe lid van de Raad van Toezicht van St. Woningbeheer de Vooruitgang.

Ook was hij lid van de Raad van afgevaardigden. Daarbij was Kees Koning vanaf 1994 lid van het comité ‘Vincentius altijd in ons midden’.
