Notes about Eltje Jans Romein

Het lag voor de hand dat de schoonmoeder van dokter Greidanus, te weten Elsje Romein (gehuwd met Durk Kuipers) aan de Stationsstraat voor Jitske en Sytze een huis liet bouwen. Het bouwterrein aan deze straat was al haar eigendom. In genoemde koopakte kunnen we lezen dat dit in 1846 van de ouders was geerfd. Notaris Jan Romein, geboren in 1781 in Leeuwarden is van 1810 tot 1842 te Buitenpost in functie geweest. Het gezin woonde ook op de Bakkershoek aan de Voorstraat (nu winkel Marskramer/Novy). Volgens het Kadaster van 1832 was de notaris eigenaar van diverse percelen land rondom Buitenpost. Hij kwam in 1842 te overlijden. De overlijdensaangifte werd gedaan door zoon Anne Jacob Romein, procureur te Leeuwarden en schoonzoon Durk Kuiper, koopman te Buitenpost, de vader van Jitske.
