DETROIT, Mich., May 25.--Henry B. Ledyard, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Michigan Central Railroad, died of heart disease at his home in Grosse Pointe Farms today at 7:15 A. M. He was taken ill last Friday. Pneumonia set in andhastened the end. He was 77 years of age.
Mr. Ledyard was born in the American Embassy in Paris in 1844, when his father, Henry Ledyard, was secretary. He lived most of his life in Detroit. He is survived by two sons and a daughter, Henry and Hugh Ledyard and the Baroness vonKettler, all of this city.
Mr. Ledyard was the grandson of United States Senator Lewis Cass, famous Michigan Governor and Secretary of State in the Buchanan Administration. He was a brother of Lewis Cass Ledyard of New York City, who was personal counsel of the elderJ. P. Morgan and Commodore of the New York Yacht Club and is one of the leaders of the American bar.
