    Een eerste H. Mis.
    Morgen zal in de Hoofdparochiale Kerk van St. Servaas te Maastricht eene treffende feestviering plaats hebben. De Eerw. Heer J. Servaes, van de
    „Compagnie de Marie” te Schimmert, zoon van den heer Karei Servaes op
    de Brusselschestraat, zal alsdan het geluk mogen smaken, voor de eerste
    maal op" plechtige wijze in zijne vroegere parochiekerk ten 9 uren het H. Misoffer op te dragen.
    Met recht mag dit feest als treffend worden aangekondigd, omdat het hier
    geldt een feest, nauw verband houdend met den werkliedenstand. Deze
    priester, de zoon van een werkman, want wie kent niet zijn vader,
    den trouwen en ijvervollen congreganist en zanger der Canisius-congre-
    gatie, verliet op de roepstem van den Hoogen Priester des N. V. die even als hij de Zoon vaneen werkman was, zijne familie, vrienden en bekenden om zich aan Zijnen dienst te wijden en mede te werken aan dè uitbreiding van ons H. Geloof.
    Na in Schimmert zijne eerste studiën gemaakt te hebben, werd hij nu ongeveer vijf jaren geleden naar Afrika gezonden, om zich in de Hoogere Studiën te bekwamen en ontving te El-Biar (Algerie) de kleine Orde om den 11en September van dit jaar door Z. D. H. Mgr. Livignac met de priesterlijke waardigheid bekleed te worden,waarna hij door zijne Oversten
    benoemd werd tot professor in zijn eerste opleidingshuis te Schimmert.
    Moge het den jeugdigen priester gegeven zijn vele werklieden voor
    den wijngaard des Heeren te vormen en dat het hem vooral morgen niet
    aan blijken van belangstelling ontbreke.
