    Joan Rent of Endicott, New York passed away on November 3, 2018 at UHS Senior Living at Ideal at the age of 87 after a long battle with dementia. She was born on April 23, 1931 in Homestead, Pennsylvania to Michael and Madeline (Plummer) McDonough. Joan was predeceased by her husband Edward, son Stephen and brothers Michael and Jim. She is survived by her sons Edward (Diane Auringer) of Bartow, Florida, Tim (Susan Allman) of Endwell, New York, Tom of Lakeville, Minnesota and Paul (Cindy Jordan) of Grover, North Carolina as well as sixteen grandchildren and step-grandchildren: Erin (David), Rebecca (Cole), Carly (Rick), Sharla (Phoenician), Nicholas, Allison (Brian), Shada (Chris), Justin, Chris (Michelle), Matthew, Christine (Parker), Astrid, Abbie (Brett), Brandon (Tasha), Lauren (Austun) and Kylie with fourteen great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Joan was an active parishioner of Our Lady of Good Counsel church and the former president of the Altar and Rosary Society. She also started an annual winter coat collection for the nuns of Cincinnatus. Joan spent many summers in Cape Cod with her family walking along the beach.
    Funeral Services will be held Wednesday 10 am from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church at 10:30 am. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Tuesday from 4-7 pm. Flowers can be sent to Allen Memorial Home or donations can be made in her memory to the Cape Cod National Seashore or Our Lady of Good Counsel Church.
