Gerrit van Norel (20 januari 1916 – 6 januari 1945, Rees)


Broer van echtgenoot werd op 2 december 1944 weggevoerd. Eerst kwam het bericht dat hij in Rees zat; korte tijd later bleek hij te zijn overleden. Omstandigheden zijn nauwelijks bekend. De dag voor de razzia werd nog een onderduiker verborgen op de mestvaalt. Dit was Herman Pothoven geb. 1-12-1929

In de vroege ochtend van 2 december 1944 werden beginnende in de buitengebieden van Apeldoorn, in totaal c.a. 11.000 mannen en jonge jongens opgepakt en wederom afgevoerd naar de markt te Apeldoorn. Daar werden er ruwweg 4500 geselecteerd en vervolgens vastgehouden op het m


arktplein, of in het postkantoor, bioscoop Centraal of in de meester Blitsschool (school 12) gelegen op de hoek Kanaalstraat – Stationsstraat. De eerste mannen die opgepakt waren stonden al om 06.00 uur op het marktplein.Vervolgens werden de mannen in groepen


lopend afgevoerd naar het NS station. Daar stonden die avond twee treinen te wachten om de 4500 mannen afte voeren, richting Duitsland en IJssellinie te weten hetzij naar Elten, hetzij naar Zevenaar.


De eerste trein vertrok tegen 20.00 uur. De tweede trein tegen 22.00 uur.


De eerste trein werd nabij het plaatsje Werth (in Duitsland) in de ochtend van 03-12-1944 door geallieerde vliegtuigen beschoten.
