In deze publikatie zijn de resultaten vermeld van een breder onderzoek, in de afgelopen 20 jaar, naar de familienaam Nienhuis. Referentie punt voor het heden en verleden van dit onderzoek was de volkstelling van 1947. Naast archief onderzoek werd o.a. gebruik gemaakt van Genlias, www.allegroningers.nl www.drenlias.nl www.graftombe.nl en internet in het algemeen. Aanvullingen in het heden werden verkregen via advertentie materiaal van het NGV in Weesp. De publikatie bevat meer dan 80 aparte Nienhuis families varierend in grootte. Nienhuis families hebben hun oorsprong in - Groningen - Drenthe - Friesland - Twente - Duitsland
