Bij de doop,door de vader aangegeven, huwde zij met de Achternaam; NIJHOFF. Zij huwde als 24 jarige met de 2 jaar jongere Arend. Mechteld was op dat moment al 7 maanden in blijde verwachting van deze 22 jarige...Er werd een Zoon geboren. Lubbertus werd 2 maand na het "feest " geboren(1817). In 1822, vijf jaar later wordt het gezinnetje verblijd met 2 dochters(een tweeling).Het 55 jarig huwelijks feest werd gevierd en 2 jaar later komt er een einde aan het zware boerenleven van Mechteld. Zij komt 's-avonds om 8 uur ten haaren huize in Nijbroek in den ouderdom van 80 jaren...te overlijden..
