Gerdina (Ger) werd vernoemd naar Gerrit, de oudste broer van haar vader Dirk de V. Op 12-02-1935 verlaat zij volgens de gezinskaart van de burgerlijke stand het ouderlijk huis. Als jong meisje werkt ze op een naai-atelier. Haar man Henk Kroese werkt vrijwel zijn hele leven op de werf van de NDSM. Ze wonen de langste tijd in Amsterdam Nrd, niet ver van het werk van Henk. Hij is jarenlang primair tijdschrijver en wellicht ook belast met toezicht op het 'klokken' annex de registratie van te laat komers. Niet of te laat je kaart in de zgn. 'prikklok' steken bleef niet zonder gevolgen, om maar niet te spreken over frauderen door tegelijk met je eigen kaart ook met de kaart van een ander te prikken. Uiteraard zat er ook een portie ander administratief werk vast aan de verwerking van de gewerkte uren ... Denk maar vakantie- en bijzonder verlofdagen, aan overwerk, ziekteverzuim. Wat dan ook: geen duimen draaien dus!
