    Mijn oma, veel herinneringen aan! Het vele haken met DMC garen, de vele kanten kleedjes die weggegeven werden of mooi op tafels lagen, gesteven en al. Ook randjes aan zakdoeken en stapels pannelappen werden door haar gemaakt en weggegeven. Iedere kleindochter kreeg op haar tiende een mooi gouden ringetje, samen uitgezocht. (Klein-)kinderen waren altijd welkom en er werd altijd gezorgd voor papier en kleurpotloden; ga maar lekker tekenen. Oma en opa waren de eerste in de straat (toen Hendrick Berckmanstraat te Vlissingen) die een TV kochten en als Swiebertje op de buis was zat de kleine huiskamer vol met kinderen uit de hele straat. En ik zat daar uiteraard bij.
    De kermis was een hoogtepunt in het jaar, elk jaar ging de hele familie genieten en daarna werd er op poffertjes getrakteerd en kregen de kleinkinderen een zuurstok.
    Als oma en opa op bezoek gingen in the USA -waar dochter Rie woonde_ kwamen ze terug met cadeaus voor iedereen. Ik (stamboommaker) kreeg mijn favoriete knuffel aap, meerdere kleindochters kregen die aap. Heb er jaren mee gespeeld.
    Oma maakte zelf botterbabbelaars op het stenen aanrechtblad van haar kleine keuken, heerlijk. En stoofvlees ging op het oliestel en smaakte nergens zo lekker als bij haar.
    IK heb jarenlang bij haar in de straat gewoond en kwam er elke dag, op vrijdag aten we daar vis (mijn moeder at geen vis) en leerde ik graatloos schar en schol eten.

    In Arnemuiden is de familie de Nooijer het grootst in aantal. Bij de volkstelling van 1948 waren dat er in Nederland 909 (reeds toen woonden er meer in Vlissingen (275) dan in in Arnemuiden (216))
    Samen met de families "de Ridder" en "van den Gruiter" hebben zij tot stamvader Crijn Claes (bierwerker op 25-05-1597) bij de geboorte van Adriaenken). Circa 1750 noemt een zekere tak zich "de Nooijer" en een andere tak zich "de Ridder". Bij een akte van naamswijziging d.d. 18-07-1812 noemt de eerste zich "van de Gruiter", namelijk Karel Lievense.
    Onder vele patronymen (persoonsnamen afgeleid van de naam van de vader) is deze grote familie terug te vinden. Voorbeelden zijn: Claesse, Crijns (Quirijns), Jans, Blaasse, Klaasse, Adriaens, Marinusse en Jorisse.

Over Jannetje de Nooijer is een verhaaltje geschreven door Ems Zuidgeest.(Bijgevoegd)
Ze wordt door haar vele kleinkinderen herinnerd als een warme, lieve vrouw waar iedereen erg veel van hield. De sfeer in het gezin Kroon wordt omschreven als humoristisch, lichtvoetig, plagerig en vooral loyaal aan elkaar. Ook al kon oma opa wel eens plagen en kreeg hij net iets te vaak zuurkool te eten als oma boos op hem was. Daar hield opa niet van.
De verjaardagen van opa en oma werden altijd gevierd, de piepkleine huiskamer in de Hendrick Berckmanstraat zat dan de hele dag vol ooms en tantes en de hele dag door was er gezelligheid. Opa zong graag voor de kleinkinderen; "naar Domburg, naar het wafelhuis". Dit is nog te beluisteren op de liederenbank waar hij dit liedje zelf voorinzong. (Via google te vinden). De kleinkinderen kregen potloden en papier, tekenen werd gestimuleerd. Ook werden de kleinkinderen naar de kust gestuurd om kreukels te zoeken. Die kookte ze dan en werden met een stopnaald uitgehaald en als een delicatesse van genoten. Ze maakte zelf boterbabbelaars en op het petroleumstelletje in de keuken stond vaak eten te pruttelen, stoofvlees, stoofpeertjes etc. Oma hield van roomboter, gezouten rollen en smeerde de bolussen helemaal vol.
Oma en opa verhuisde vaak en woonden ook veel in Rotterdam, om vervolgens weer in een ander huis in de Hendrick Berckmanstraat terug te komen.
