Zodoende stond Jan dan ook in Leermens bekend als Jan ´van ´t Holten Waigje´ (mede ter onderscheid van de andere Jan Kort die in Leermens woonde).´t Holten Waigje stond in de Leermenstermeeden, gelegen aan het Gondlinzermaar bij een brug (gebouwd in 1897) in het pad van Leermens naar Arwerd. ´t Holten Waigje was een "knip" (stille kroeg), die in het begin van de 20e eeuw goede jaren heeft gekend. Schippers die passeerden legden vaak even aan en de boeren, die in de meeden hun vee kwamen tellen, kochten hier ook een "klokje". In de winter was het een pleisterplaats voor schaatsenrijders. (E.J.
