Hij stelde zich na 1568 als vrijheidsstrijder tegen Spanje terbeschikking van Prins Willem van Oranje (GsvD-138/140).
In 1573 als admiraal op de Zuiderzee.
Later gedeputeerde en lid van de Staten-Generaal.
In 1604 genoemd als hopman en drost van Harlingen (zie 2417 bij deWalle).
Zijn naam ter herinnering op de kerkklok van Cornjum uit 1624.
