    Friedrich August Karl von Specht (* 23. September 1803 in Brandenburg an der Havel, Mark Brandenburg, Königreich Preußen; † 12. Juli 1879 in Eisenach, Großherzogtum Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach, Thüringen) war kurfürstlich hessischer Generalmajor und Brigade-Kommandeur, königlich preußischer Generalleutnant und Autor militärhistorischer Fachbücher. Er heiratete in erster Ehe am 17. August 1833 in Kassel (Hessen) Luise Büchling (* 26. August 1805; † 6. Juli 1841). Sohn aus dieser Ehe war der königlich preußische Generalmajor Wilhelm von Specht (1838-1910). In zweiter Ehe heiratete Specht 1843 in Kassel Sophie Wehr (* 21. Dezember 1815 in Kassel; † 21. April 1898 in Kassel). Diese Ehe wurde 1847 wieder geschieden. Schließlich heiratete er in dritter Ehe am 20. Mai 1850 in Kassel Marie Günste (* 3. Januar 1827 in Kassel; † 21. Oktober 1892 in Kassel), die Tochter des Ober-Appellationsgerichtspräsidenten Martin Günste und der Sophie Günste. Sohn aus dieser Ehe war der fürstlich schaumburg-lippische Kammerherr und königlich preußische Generalmajor Walter von Specht (1855-1923).

    Hij was generaal-majoor, brigadecommandant en auteur van militair-historische vakliteratuur. Hij trad in 1817 op14-jarige leeftijd in militaire dienst. Na een duel-affaire in 1863 werd Von Specht als commandant naar Fulda overgeplaatst. Van 20 juli tot 26 augustus 1866 maakte hij als generaal-majoor deel uit van de generale staf van de Hessische vestingstad Mainz. Die stad viel echter in handen van de Pruisen.

    Tengevolge van de Duitse Oorlog werden in 1866 Fulda en Hessen Pruisisch grondgebied. Friedrich von Specht werd in dat jaar op non-actief gezet. Tot 1872 woonde hij in Marburg, daarna in Eisenach, waar hij in 1879 stierf. Hij geldt tevens als hoofdvertegenwoordiger van de Liberale Partij te Hessen.
