    Op 12 februari 1885 kocht hij van Dirk van der Linden uit Rhoon, die met Heiltje Kleinjan was getrouwd, een stuk grond aan het Slot Valkesteinsedijk.. Hij bouwde een woning met schaapskooi die werd verhuurd aan de schaapsherder Aast van Diemen.Cornelis was inmiddels op Rhoon gaan boeren. Hij had op 22 october 1908 van de gebroeders Fonkert een boerderij gekocht aan de Achterdijk. Hij moest uit Charlois weg vanwege de aanleg van de Waalhaven. Na het overlijden van Ariaantje op 26-11-1921 kwam Cornelis in het bezit van de onroerende goederen. Zoon Gerrit (* 09-07-1875, Charlois), kwam op 26-05-1923 op de schaapskooi. Na het overlijden van Cornelis (08-02-1927, Rhoon) werd op 15-07-1927 door de erfgenamen een openbare verkoping gehouden in het Wapen van Poortugaal.Klaas Breevaart die op de meelfabriek werkte, kocht de schaapskooi. Gerrit betrok een woning verderop aan de dijk tot hij in 1937 naar de Rhoonsedijk verhuisde.
