Tijdens het huwelijk wordt een kind, genaamd Hendrika Wilhelmina Dijst, geboren 23-12-1896 erkend door H.A. van Poorten en wordt de achternaam gewijzigd in van Poorten. In de huwelijksakte wordt door de ambtenaar het geboortejaar 1897 geschreven. De geboorte akte vermeldt echter het geboortejaar 1896.
Het is haar met kinderen niet echt goed verlopen. Het eerste kind Hendrika Wilhelmina werd voor het huwelijk geboren en stierf 1,5 jaar oud. Haar 2e kind, Johanna Hendrika van Poorten werd 6 maanden oud. Haar 3e kind, Hendrikus Adrianus van Poorten is op 13 jarige leeftijd opgenomen in het psychiatrische inrichting St. Joseph in Heel en Panheel. Op 18 jarige leeftijd, 29 september 1917, vertrekt hij naar de psychiatrische inrichting in Bloemendaal. Volgens huisregels worden psychiatrische patiënten pas na één jaar opgenomen in het bevolkingsregister van Bloemendaal. Aangezien hij in Bloemendaal niet is opgenomen in het bevolkingsregister kan worden aangenomen, dat hij binnen één jaar weer is vertrokken of ...

Het 5e kind, Hendrika Wilhelmina, wordt geboren na het overlijden van haar echtgenoot van Poorten. Het kind voert de naam Dijst. Het blijft leven en wordt 80 jaar.
Het 6e kind, Leonard wordt geboren terwijl zij hertrouwd is. Echter het kind wordt kennelijk niet door de echtgenoot erkend en blijft de naam Dijst voeren. Leonard wordt 2 jaar oud.
