Het voorgenomen huwelijk van Hendrik Jan Westendorp en Johanna Fikkert werd afgekondigd te Hengelo op zondagen 14 en 21 januari 1872.
Getuigen bij het huwelijk waren Frederik Jan Brunnekreef, oud 56 jaar, oom van de bruid, Arend Jan Brinkatte, oud 53 jaar, vader van de bruidegom, Johannes Hilberink, oud 49 jaar en Arend Jan Brunnekreef, oud 42 jaar, oom van de bruid, allen landbouwer in de gemeente Hengelo..
Hendrik Jan had voldaan aan de Nationale Militie.
De bruid, de beide moeders en de eerste getuige waren in het schrijven onervaren.
In de akte staat dat Hendrik Jan reeds meerdere jaren in de gemeente Hengelo woonde. Dat is overdreven. Hij werd in Hengelo ingeschreven op 10 mei 1871 (vorige woonplaats Ambt Delden). Hij was eerst inwonend bij Berendina Mensink, geboren Bokmer. Hij was toen schaapherder. In de huwelijksakte staat dat hij landbouwer is. Bij de geboorte van zijn oudste zoon is hij weer schaapherder en daarna landbouwer. Op 3 januari 1872 kwam hij bij zijn a.s. schoonouders inwonen. Op 8 mei 1877 vertrok hij met zijn gezin naar Haaksbergen.

Notes about Johanna Fikkert

Volgens het bevolkingsregister van Hengelo vertrokken Hendrik Jan en Johanna op 8 mei 1877 met hun drie kinderen naar Haaksbergen. Zoon Jan geboren 4-11-1873 komt echter later nog voor op het gezinsblad van zijn grootvader Jan Fikkert en is daar uitgeschreven op 17 februari 1899 naar Lonneker. Dus Jan is in Woolde gebleven of hij is daar teruggekeerd. Hij is niet ingeschreven in Hengelo als nieuw ingekomene.
