Hendrik Esveld bought the business in "Home Fuels"(wood and coal) (May 01, 1850) from his sister-in-law, Antje Wiebrens Bakker, in the city of Amsterdam, located at the Nieuwe-Zijds-Armsteeg #21. He ran this business till his death in 1861.
The business was continued by his widow Jacoba van Veen till 1864, when she sold it to a Mr. H. Elderenbosch.

On 26 October 1868, Jacoba van Veen moved her family to Enkhuizen, were she became the director of a Reformed Old Women Home. Her 3 children grew up in Enkhuizen.
