Kil Elbertse koopt op 1759-10-13 "een huis genaamd 't Hoijbroek ten Renswoude met bergh en schuren, varkensschot"

Aan de Emmikhuizerlaan, ten zuiden van het kasteelbos is de hofstede Hooibroek gelegen. De naam Hooibroek wordt pas omstreeks 1725 voor het eerst genoemd, meestal was er sprake van "het hooibroek"of "in 't hooibroek".
Vermoedelijk komt deze naam van een stuk grasland dat door boeren werd gepacht met als doel de hooiberg te vullen. Begin 18e eeuw werd er een boerderij gebouwd die in de leen- of vasallenregisters nergens genoemd wordt.
Pas op de gemeentekaart van 1865 staat de naam vermeld, niet te verwarren met Hooibroek te Woudenberg.
