GRA: In 1550 werd hij als consul of burgemeester te Dorsten gecommitteerd om in het vijandelijk leger bij Holsterhausen de plundering der stad af te koopen. Nadat hij hierover met den generaal onderhandeld en ene overeenkomst getroffen had, werd hij, op de terugreis naar de stad, door de uit het leger komende ruiterij voor de stad, aan de lange brug, bij een aldaar staand kruis, gewond en overleed drie dagen later.

GRA: Ten gevolge van dit tweede huwelijk [= het tweede huwelijk van zijn vrouw met een meneer Knibber] werden zijne kinderen Knibberskinderen genoemd en vindt men in het vaderlijk stamhuis te Dorsten op oude glazen nog de wapens geschilderd, een met het onderschrift "Johan Knibber genandt Rappard".
