Deze stamboom van mijn voorouders speelt zich af in het gebied tussen Bremen en Antwerpen. De oudste gegevens dateren van rond 1530. De stamboomnaam heeft niet direct met het geloof te maken, dat zij aanhingen. Maar ik heb dat gekozen, omdat mijn stamvader Jan Kroes (Kroes-Stam Rotterdam) "in onegt geboren" was en de naam van zijn vader geschreven werd als Jan Cruce in de vermoedelijke doopakte uit Werkendam.
