Notes about Hartog BLEIN

In het boek "Land loopt niet weg" van Max de Hes wordt op blz 34 vermeld: Hartog Blein kocht in
1923 het winkelpand Hoofdstraat 229 voor fl. 10.000,--, waarvan fl. 9.000,-- als hypotheek met
een rente van 6%/jaar. In 1936 werd het pand verbouwd en werd er tevens een atelier bijgebouwd.
In 1936 werd de manufacturenzaak door de weduwe (Catharina Gans) en zoon Jacob Henri Blein
voortgezet als vennootschap onder firma: "H. Blein en Zn.", het winkel/woonhuis met het
confectie-atelier aan de Hoofdstraat 229 werd ingebracht in deze firma, die nog op 10-05-1940 op
naam van de familie stond. Hartog en Leonard verdienden goed, konden ook van het leven genieten
en waren enthousiaste motorrijders -noot 1-. Hun broer Jozef deelde deze belangstelling. In die
tijd kreeg men wel heel makkelijk een rijbewijs: Leonard Blein kon op zijn eerste motorrit zijn
voertuig niet tot stilstand brengen.
