RIJEPOLDER, Stroopuit
Deze kleine hofstede was in 1827 eigendom van Johanna Maria Dossche. Ze werd later gekocht door Constant Schutijser uit Moerbeke in België. Tot 1841 woonde hier Angelus Descamps. Eigenaar is toen geworden Jacobus Bernardus van Houcke voor de prijs van f 944,28. Deze is erop gekomen met zijn vrouw Norbertina Mullaert. De vrouw overleed in 1849. De man is hertrouwd met Rosalia Sturm. Hij overleed in 1861. De vrouw hertrouwde met Venantius Hamelinck Dit gedoe is in 1870 verkocht aan August Bernardus de Reu en Maria Roman. De dochter Louise de Reu trouwde in 1887 met Camiel Lutaert. Zij hebben het bedrijf annex herberg verkocht aan Edmond Louis Plasschaert en Felicita Tas, die er gewoond hebben tot 1914. Nadien woonden er Cyriel Plasschaert en Sylvia Wouters tot 1969. Het bedrijf is nadien verlaten. Thans is het in handen van een Belgische eigenaar, die er een riant buitenverblijf van heeft gemaakt. Het jaartal 1766 is een aanduiding dat er toen een nieuw dak op het huis gelegd is. Het was van oude tijden een bekende landelijke herberg ‘In den Stroopuit’ genaamd, waar menigeen een pintje pakte voor de dorst en een druppel omdat het zo lekker was. Jaarlijks had er de poldervergadering plaats waarna de ingelanden zich te goed deden aan de gebakken paling besproeid met de nodige spiritualiën. Het was tevens een ideale plaats voor de plakkers.
