Volgens de gegevens van de Nationale Militie was Peter 1 meter en 73 centimeter groot. Hij had een ovaal aangezicht en een breed voorhoofd, verder had hij bruine ogen en een gewone neus, ook had hij een gewone mond en een ronde kin, hij had rossige haren en wenkbrouwen. Tentijde van de keuring woonde hij in de gemeente Venray en was schaapsherder van beroep. Hij werd geschikt bevonden voor de militaire dienst maar is waarschijnlijk niet in werkelijke dienst geroepen, zie mededeling in Peel en Maas van 15-10-1898 waarin staat dat zijn lotnummer, 53, niet opgeroepen zal worden.
