Tinus heeft in de WO2 dienst genomen in het Duitse leger en is aan het front in Rusland geweest. Hiervan is hij met een longontsteking teruggekomen en is hieraan gestorven in het ziekenhuis te Venlo. Hij is hierna in Venray begraven. Ten tijde van de oorlogsjaren 40-45 was zijn thuisadres in Arcen aan de grens Café Hollandia.
