Notes about Jan Mees

Jan Mees werd te Groningen ingeschreven onder de naam Joannes als student in de philosophie (1646), daarna te Utrecht (1654), doch promoveerde in de rechten. Zie Mr G. Mees Azn., ":Gregorius Mees en zijn gezin, bijlage 1.
Volgens het biografisch woordenboek van van der Aa hield hij zich lang in Parijs op en vestigde hij zich als Medicinae Doktor te Groningen. Uit zijn "Zegezangh over de goede strijdt van de Godtsgeleerde heer Greg. Mees tegens de quade vyand" blijkt dat hij ook de dichtkunst beoefende.
